She began serving the World Council of Churches as a Programme Executive in 2011 with responsibility for Church and Ecumenical Relations: deepening and strengthening the fellowship of 348 member churches, as well as regional and national councils of churches globally, and Christian World Communions. In her former capacity as ecumenical officer for the Anglican Church of Canada, she was responsible as staff for three bilateral dialogues, including the United Church of Canada, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Roman Catholic Church.Natasha was a member of the Faith and Order Standing Commission of the World Council of Churches from 2007-2010, working specifically to develop the consensus text The Church: Towards a Common Vision adopted by the WCC in 2013. With degrees from the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, and Trinity College, University of Toronto, she is now furthering her research of the contemporary ecumenical movement writing a doctoral dissertation at King’s College London. On June 22, she will talk about the challenges of drafting “God’s Gift and Call to Unity: And Our Commitment” this important text on the unity of the church and what we can learn as ecumenists from the behind the scenes process of building consensus for such a statement. HOW do you draft a statement on Christian unity from a blank sheet of paper and 10 people in a room from every corner of the world and age and confession, to its editing at the assembly based on criticism and objections, and the challenges there, to the point of adoption by full consensus of 800 delegates representing 600 million Christians? To read the statement: http://www.oikoumene.org/en/resources/documents/assembly/2013-busan/adopted-documents-statements/unity-statement
